Aerieal Patnongon a ringside inspiration as boyfriend June Mar Fajardo plays out his best in SMB win over Globalport
LOVE was in the air Tuesday night at the Smart Araneta Coliseum as outgoing Ateneo volleyball player Aerieal Patnongon openly cheered and supported inspired boyfriend June Mar Fajardo of San Miguel.
Patnongon, a member of back-to-back UAAP women’s volleyball champion Lady Eagles, was one interested spectator at the ringside section of the Smart Araneta Coliseum in the Beermen’s win over Globalport.
“Kinakabahan ako siyempre. Pero nandun din yung kagustuhan ko na manalo sila (Beermen). Binigay din naman ni June Mar lahat saka mga teammates niya,” Patnongon told sports scribes after the game.
The year-old Ateneo blocker said she watched several games of Fajardo on television, but admitted it was a different experience altogether to see the reigning league MVP play in the flesh.
“Napapanuod ko naman siya (Fajardo) sa TV, tapos ngayon live,” she said.
“Iba pala pag live, sobrang idol ko talaga siya,” Patnongon chuckled.

FORMER Ateneo volleyball player Aerieal Patnongon wanted to surprise her boyfriend June Mar Fajardo with something special before Gilas Pilipinas starts its campaign in the upcoming Olympic Qualifying Tournament in Manila a week from now.
For her welcoming gift to her man-mountain, who just arrived with the national team from a three-week training camp in Europe, Aerieal contacted last week Rowel Panizares, a well-known name in the toy and hobby community to commission him for a project-custom dolls portarying "The Kraken" in a San Miguel Beermen uniform and Patnongon in her Ateneo varsity kit.
“Hindi ko nga siya kilala nung una. Akala ko nga guy yung ka-chat ko sa Facebook at hindi din ako familiar sa volleyball. Mabilisan kasi surprise daw,” learned in an interview with Panizares, whose day job at an advertising agency also gives way to customizing vinyl dolls and action figures.
