What do all-time great sci-fi movies like Star Wars and Jurassic Park, the Harry Potter film franchise, and quite a few Best Picture winners have in common? If you guessed they are all considered some of the best films of all time, you’d technically be correct, but that’s not the answer we’re looking for. If you guessed they all feature tremendous scores composed by John Williams, you’re in for a real treat. Star Wars: Episode IV – A New Hope ()

It is hard to imagine a world in which anyone but John Williams composed the Star Wars score, and luckily, we don’t have to experience that dark reality. His score, which won him an Oscar, brings so much pomp and circumstance to George Lucas’ epic space opera, and it all starts with the brilliant and iconic “Main Title” sequence. But the real crown jewel is the “Binary Sunset” moment as Luke Skywalker (Mark Hammill) ponders his future.

Honoring perhaps the greatest movie composer of all time Mr. John Williams. He was making a name for himself even before he began collaborating with Spielberg. His legacy starts in the late 50s with his first composed score for 's Daddy-O. Wasn't till when he finally began working with Spielberg on one of his early projects 's The Sugarland Express. Known for composing some of the most iconic music scores in cinema. His music was like a character in the film, and he deserved every award he won. In fact he is the second most nominated celebrity for the Oscars behind animated legend Walt Disney. On this list, all his works will be included from his first score (Daddy-O) to his most recent project. Without further ado, here are John Williams legendary music scores. Enjoy!

At the risk of unleashing hot-takes and causing controversy, John Williams is a very good composer, his music always fits the movies he’s composing for, and his film scores are memorable. In actuality, though, praising John Williams is about the easiest thing to do when it comes to discussing/critiquing film, because he seemingly never misses. Not only does he refuse to miss, but he usually fulfills his role within the making of a film perfectly, sometimes elevating the entire movie or even overshadowing other parts of it, because his music is just that good.

'War Horse' ()

Director: Steven Spielberg

Get used to seeing the name Steven Spielberg, because he's easily the director John Williams has worked with most frequently. The two work together so well that it’s rare for Williams to compose a score for a Spielberg film and not receive at least an Oscar nomination for it. To call some of these scores iconic would be an understatement, but those that are “merely” very good shouldn’t be ignored entirely.

Case in point, the score for War Horse is very good, and it’s an overall solid film that doesn’t quite rank among Spielberg’s best war movies simply because
