I am sure you all would like to listen story of Bapu whose birthday we are celebrating today across entire India and world.
Long ago, years back on this day of , a cute little baby was born in Porbandar town in Gujarat. Father Karamchand Gandhi and mother Putlibai were very happy. They named the baby Mohan Mohandas Karamchand Gandhi. When Mohan grew, he was greatly influenced by honesty and strict discipline of his father and by simplicity and religious thoughts of his mother. At very early age, the shy little child learned great values of truthfulness, integrity, honesty and discipline. He lived these values throughout his life and rightly demonstrated power of these values to entire world.
When Mohan grew older, like any other teenagers, he also fell in bad company and picked up few bad habits as well. He hid these bad deeds from his parents. But his values did not allow these bad habits to linger any lon

There was a boy. His name was Mohan.
He was studying in a school at Rajkot. He was not bright at studies, but was very fond of reading.
Once he read the story of Shravana. Shravana used to carry his old and blind parents in two baskets slung on a bamboo yoke. Mohan was deeply touched by his devotion to his old parents. He resolved to be like Shravana and serve his parents.
Once Mohan saw a play depicting the life of King Harishchandra, who lost his kingdom and suffered much for truth. Mohan was so deeply moved by this play that he was in tears. He decided never to swerve from the path of truth and be ever truthful and honest like Harishchandra.
In his childhood the young Gandhi was very timid. He feared to step in darkness, even in his own house. He feared ghosts and thieves and snakes. Rambha was a maid servant in his house. Once she said to Mohan: `Why are you so much fearful? Remember Rama! Rama will always protect you. Fear never encounters him who remembers Rama.'
Mohan was deeply impressed by these words. He took to reciting the name of Rama. His faith in Rama increased as he grew up. He remembered God and dedicated all his work t

The night was very dark and Mohan was frightened. He had always been afraid of ghosts. Whenever he was alone in the dark, he was afraid that a ghost lurking in some dark corner would suddenly spring on him. And tonight it was so dark that one could barely see one's own hand. Mohan had to go from one room to another.
As he stepped out of the room, his feet seemed to turn to lead and his heart began to beat like a drum. Rambha, their old maidservant was standing by the door.
"What's the matter, son?" she asked with a laugh.
"I am frightened, Dai," Mohan answered.
" Frightened, child! Frightened of what?"
"See how dark it is! I'm afraid of ghosts!" Mohan whispered in a terrified voice.
Rambha patted his head affectionately and said, "Whoever heard of anyone being afraid of dark! Listen to me: Think of Rama and no ghost will dare come near you. No one will touch a hair of your head. Rama will protect you."
Rambha's words gave Mohan courage. Repeating the name of Rama, he left the room. And from that day, Mohan was never lonely or afraid. He believed that as long as Rama was with

Chapter Gandhi: The Teenager
Like all teenagers Mohandas Karamchand Gandhi was curious and loved to dabble with new experiences. While he was in High School he had a number of experiences - not always pleasant - from which he learned much.
Mohan had a friend in school who had rather a bad reputation. Both Putlibai (Gandhi's mother) and Kasturba (Gandhi's wife) disliked him, but Mohan said, "Let me be his friend; I know he has weaknesses but he also has virtues".
This friend had told Mohan many stories about the benefits of eating meat.
"Some of our teachers eat meat secretly," he said. "So do some of our leading men."
"I did not know that," said Mohan. "Why do they do it?"
"Meat eaters grow strong and healthy", said his friend. "Look at me! I can run long distances. I can do any hard work. And look at you! You are weak, you have no courage."
"That is true" thought Mohan. "I am a coward. I am afraid of darkness and ghosts and thieves. Even Kasturba is bolder than I am."
"Do you know why the English ru
