Last week I wrote up some of my memories of one of Kannywoods biggest stars Rabilu Musa, more often known by his comedic alter-ego Dan Ibro. Musa passed away last week on 10 December , due to complications related to kidney disease. He had apparently struggled with the illness for some time. When he was jailed by the mobile court then attached to the Kano State Censorship Board (a kangaroo court he later mocked in Kotun Ibro), he spent most of his jail term in the hospital. (When Kwankwaso became governor in , Rabilu Musa was also given a seat on the Kano State Censorship Board.)

Rabilu Musa, popularly known as Dan Ibro, was a highly talented Nigerian professional comedian, actor, filmmaker, and director.
He was born on 12th December in Danlasan, Kano, Nigeria.
Ibro began his academic journey at Danlasan Primary School, situated in Warawa, Kano. He later enrolled at Government Teachers College Wudil, where he pursued his education. These early educational experiences provided a solid foundation for his future endeavors in the entertainment industry.
He joined the Nigerian pr!son service in and served in the civil service. After serving in the Nigerian Pr!son Service for several years, Ibro decided to follow his passion for acting. He made a bold move and transitioned into the movie industry, where he embarked on a remarkable journey.
In , he released his debut film, “Yar Mai Ganye,” which not only marked the beginning of his acting career but also served as a significant catalyst for his rise to stardom.
