ATN Bangla is the first Bengali language digital cable television channel in Bangladesh. This channel is transmits from its own studio in Dhaka, Bangladesh. ATN Bangla is transmitted in South Asia, the Middle-east, Europe, and North America. এটিএন বাংলার চেয়ারম্যান মাহফুজুর রহমান
বাংলাদেশের প্রথম স্যাটেলাইট টেলিভিশন চ্যানেল এটিএন বাংলার চেয়ারম্যান মাহফুজুর রহমান ১৯৭৮ সালে তাঁর ব্যবসায়িক জীবন শুরু করেন। বাংলাদেশ থেকে নীট পোশাক ইওরোপে রপ্তানীর মধ্যে দিয়েই তাঁর এই ব্যবসার শুরু। এরপর '৯৫ সালে এই ব্যবসার খাতিরেই ভারতের মুম্বাই শহরে গিয়ে জি-টিভির কার্যক্রম দেখে তাঁর ইচ্ছা হয় ওই আদলে বাংলাদেশে একটি স্যাটেলাইট টেলিভিশনের প্রচার শুরু করার ।
সেই ইচ্ছা থেকেই সেসময়ে মুম্বই এর একটি চ্যানেল এটিএন-এর এক ঘন্টা সময় ভাড়া নিয়ে অনুষ্ঠান বানানো শুরু হয় এটিএন-বাংলার। একসময় মুম্বাইয়ে এই চ্যানেলটি বন্ধ হয়ে গেলে মাহফুজুর রহমান চেষ্টা শুরু করেন পূর্ণাঙ্গভাবে একটি ২৪ ঘন্টার চ্যানেল শুরু করতে।
থাইল্যান্ডের একটি স্যাটেলাইট ভাড়া নিয়ে , প্রতিদিন কুরিয়ার সার্ভিসে অনুষ্ঠানের টেপ পাঠিয়ে এসময় কার্যক্রম চালায় এটিএন বাংলা। এসময়ে এটিএনএর অনুষ্ঠান এবং বিজ্ঞাপনের মান নিয়ে যথেষ্ট সমালোচনা ছিল; এর উত্তরে মাহফুজুর রহমান বলেন, অভাবে স্বভাব নষ্ট হয়। অর্থাৎ সেসময় কোন বিজ্ঞাপন পাওয়া যেত না বলে বিটিভি যে সিগারেটের বিজ্ঞাপন নিত না তাই তারা লুফে নিতেন।
আবার বাজেট কম থাকার কারণে তাদের অনুষ্ঠানের মানও ভাল ছিল না। সংবাদ প্রচার করার অনুমতি পাওয়ার পরপরই তার চ্যানেলের জনপ্রিয়তা বেড়ে যায় বলে তিনি জানান। আর একুশে টেলিভ

ATN Bangla chief declared &#;unwanted&#;
Dhaka, Jun 25 (bdnewscom) — Journalist organisations have declared ATN Bangla Chairman Mahfuzur Rahman 'unwanted' in the wake of scuffle during protest over his remarks on the killing of journalist couple Sagar Sarowar and Meherun Runi.
The announcement came a day after a scuffle took place between ATN Bangla reporters and journalists during a protest programme on Sunday.
At a human chain protest in front of the National Press Club on Monday, journalist leaders also called upon their colleagues to boycott all ATN Bangla programmes including its talk shows.
President of a faction of the Bangladesh Federal Union of Journalists Iqbal Sobhan Chowdhury made the announcement on behalf of four associations of journalists.
The other faction of BFUJ, both factions of the Dhaka Union of Journalists, Dhaka Reporters' Unity and the leaders of National Press Club joined the protest.
The human chain was organised to protest the 'attack' made by several journalists of ATN Bangla and a reporter of Bengali daily The Bhorer Kagoj on Sunday.
